Tue. #4/Exit Through the Gift Shop

Winter Break '10-'11, Week 5, Day 31:

Didn't get the day started until around 3 when my mom and my brother got home. That's what happens when either your friends are at school or you don't have a mode of transportation. It was more of the latter. I head over to Katie's house after attempting to reload my transit pass. I say attempt because no one was around who was knew how to reload it.

Katie was sick so she stayed home all day today. When I saw her though, she looked much better. We went in her office room with her laptop and watched Banksy's Exit Through the Gift Shop. Really good movie whether the centered character is real or not. We went downstairs in an attempt to cook a meal, but instead we were out to pick up an order from Chili's.

Katie and I drove out first to VONS, so I could buy some mini-groceries and reload my transit pass. After a bit of a long line, we drove to Chili's to pick up the salad. And finally after filling up Katie's car, we headed back home to enjoy the meal.

I went over to Katie's house in the afternoon to sorta help out Katie on unpacking all of the stuff they wrapped for the pest control process. I say sorta because they were almost done with all of the stuff in the kitchen. Katie and I sorted out all of the spices that were past its expiration date. About 3/4 of them were all bad, so we threw that away. Katie's mom was hungry so the two of us drove to Lolita's to get some chicken tacos for the three of us.

We unwrapped everything from the bathroom and sorted out everything back into cabinets. The two of us just lounged and tried to get Katie's newly fixed laptop up to date. As we watched some TV downstairs, Katie got ready to go eat out at Old Town with her parents. Soon enough, we left the house and met up with Katie's parents at the Old Town Inn.

The four of us walked towards Old Town and walked along the lively street trying to find a good restaurant to eat at. We ended up going into a Mexican restaurant that Katie went before. The food was good and the environment was rowdy. A good feel for a food place. We walked back after the big meal and Katie and I headed back to the homestead for the night.

One more day of break.

Pow Pow

I got a phone call from Katie in the morning, telling me to get ready since we were heading to the swap meet soon. So I get ready and drive out to Lexi's to meet up with Lexi and Katie. The two were finishing up cleaning their room. Katie got all tired from everything so instead of going out, we decided to get lazy in the room and let everybody rest.

Later on, Lexi's friend Jorge came over and the two played guitar and attempted to write some songs while Katie and I hung out with them. As the day went on, Katie wanted to go watch a movie so we borrowed The Tourist from Lexi and headed on to my house.

The Tourist was an alright movie. A good twist at the end. After the movie, we hung around and caught The Golden Globe awards on TV. It was good to see The Social Network being praised, especially Trent Reznor receiving an award for the score. Good to see Black Swan being praised too.

I still got more days off for school.

Sat. #3/Turn On the Bright Lights

Winter Break '10-'11, Week 4, Day 28:

Nothing really eventful in the afternoon. Katie was away so I had to get by the time somehow. IN the afternoon, I decided to take a final visit to Disney to pick up my checks that I haven't picked up in a couple of weeks. As the sun fell, I skated on to Wells Fargo to deposit my checks. Around night time, Katie called saying she was going home to Lexi's and was done from her busy day.

She came over and we had dinner at my house, talking about what we each did on our day. I got ready to go out and we decided to hit the highway to Downtown for the bright night sights. We made our way on to the top of the convention center again for the view. We sat down by a table where people probably sit to dine. We talked for a while until we decided to head back. I snapped a photo of the view and walked our way to Starbucks. We got to grand this evening and ordered a venti frappaccino, courtesy of the Starbucks gift card Bianca gave me for a late-birthday gift. I don't think I'll ever be able to order a venti for the rest of my life.

As we got back home from the night drive from Downtown. We just got lazy in my room until it was getting late so Katie headed on to Lexi's to spend the night.

It was a day worth waiting for.

Fri! #3/Old Town Inn

Day 1110:

Winter Break '10-'11, Week 4, Day 27:

Katie came over to the house again as she was done with her busy KORtv work. I warmed up omelets from previous nights before for Katie's lunch. I had to do the best I could to provide the girl with some food. I went to go take a shower, and we ended up getting lazy in my room until 3 o' clock, which was when Katie had to pick up the dog from PetSmart.

Katie and I went out to pick up Katie's MacBook before we went to the pet store to pick up the dog. She sent it out to the Apple store to replace a hard drive and now it was ready for pick up. We picked up the groomed dog and we hit the highway to meet up with Katie's parents at the Old Town Inn. Katie's house was tented for pest control so the family stayed at the motel. Katie and I heard about the heated pool so we got ready to go in, only to be disappointed how unheated the pool was. We sat around for a bit until we went back in the room to watch some TV eating pita chips. Katie thought up a grand idea to grab some canolis at Little Italy so we said goodbye to Katie's parents and hit up Little Italy.

There were no parking whatsoever, so I had to get dropped off, buy the desert, wait until Katie came around again and got picked up to drive on home. We headed to my house for the time being until Lexi got home from her performance.

Thu. #3/True Grit

Day 1109:

Day 13 of '11:

Winter Break '10-'11, Week 4, Day 26:

Raul called me up in the morning asking to hang out before he leaves later on the day. I told him I'll get ready and meet him at the school since he was heading there to pick up his transcripts. Soon enough, I skated on from my house to Otay to meet up with Raul. I saw Raul leave with Lexi heading to the office. As I joined them, we got stopped by principal. We had a good excuse but we were hurried along to pick up our transcripts. As Raul got what he came to get, we met with Lexi and headed to Lexi's car, then we were off to Lexi's.

Lexi and Raul tried to take advantage of the time and tried to cherish every minute they had until Raul had to leave to the airport. We just hung out in Lexi's house, watching True Grit until the time came for Raul to head on. The three of us got in Lexi's car and drove on to pick up Raul's sister to head to the airport. The destination came close and close, until finally we got to the drop off section of the airport. We all loaded out the luggage from the trunk and bid farewell to our friend.

As we got back to Lexi's house, we waited for Katie to come over to Lexi's. Lexi whipped up some sandwiches and cooked up soup for the three of us to enjoy. We plugged in the SNES to the living room TV and played that for a while. We all got bored of the SNES and decided to go to Cold Stone to use Katie and Lexi's gift card to buy some ice cream while buying some cat food.

After enjoying some ice cream and a purchase at Target, Katie and I said bye to Lexi and headed on to Katie's house. Katie was going to get her house tented to get rid of the pests at her house, so everyone in her house was bagging stuff and packing up for the weekend. Katie and I did the same, clearing out the bathrooms, bagging up items and cleaning out rooms.

That was a good 2 weeks.

Katie got out of school and eventually rang my doorbell and came over to my house. We both ate lunch at my house, then Katie took a big nap until my brother and mom came home. We went upstairs and attempted to watch Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, but my computer acted up and froze in the middle of it. We tried to find more movies but no luck. Katie decided to massage my huge knot by my shoulder. It didn't go away but now I know I have this painful knot. Katie brought over her homework as we ate dinner and finished it up. We just hung out in the living room until Katie's mom called for her to come home.

Watched some American Psycho and went off to sleep.

Didn't even leave the house.

Tue. #3/Boomers!

Winter Break '10-'11, Week 4. Day 24:

Raul spent the night from Alba's. We woke up pretty late into the morning. I got the laptop and started to update Raul's iPod. Raul and I both started to get ready, went downstairs to eat and went outside to skate. Couple of our friends were down at Windingwalk, so they joined us as we skated flat ground. Raul brought his SK8 DICE so that kept us entertaining for a while. Both of us did not have any of our tricks down any more. I just sat out after bailing on a kickflip. We went back home from a session in hopes of finding milk to make milk shakes. Unfortunately, we had to compensate with Cactus Coolers. I turned on the TV and we watched Spongebob until Katie called me regarding the plans for the later on today. After much discussion, Lexi called Raul and soon Raul got picked up by Lexi.

After a bit, I went to Katie's house. I got to eat a little meal as Raul and Lexi came over to head on to Boomer's. We all hopped in Lexi's car and drove on to Boomer's. We purchased ourselves a free everything wristband and went wild. The four of us joined for some go-karts, then the ferris wheel and the mini-golf. Rest of the night was spent in the arcade until everyone grew hungry and decided to leave the fun park. We stopped by Denny's to grab a group dinner and Katie and I got dropped off at Katie's.

Mon. #3/Which Wich?

Day 1106:

Day 10 of '11:

Winter Break '10-'11, Week 4, Day 23:

Katie was off on a doctor's appointment then a maintenance of her car. She was stuck up at the Ford dealership for hours so I drove over to pick her up and be company until she can pick up her car. I picked her up at the Salvation Army across the street from the dealership. She told me about this CD rack she found so I went inside and ended up buying it. It was $2.50, so it was a good offer. Katie wanted to visit the Nissan dealership and check out the Juke model. After being spotted by a salesmen and being shown some of the cars, we shook him off and we were off to find somewhere else to go.

I was hungry so I suggested that we go visit Which Wich for some sandwiches since Pacific Beach was nearby. Katie never went there so we drove down to the sandwich place. In Which Wich, there are paper bags full of lists on what you could put in a sandwich, and you just mark them and show it when you order so they know what exactly to put in your sandwich. Pretty nifty. I enjoyed a custom turkey sandwich for the day. After our lunch, we went inside the Buffalo Exchange and walked over to American Apparel until the dealership called Katie. The car was ready and I drove off to meet Katie at her house.

At Katie's, we scanned the photos inside my photo journal so it's up digitally in the cyberspace. Took a while but it was worth the effort. Katie was hungry so she was scavenging for food inside her house until I suggested I had some food that she might like. Her face lit up and we went ahead with that plan. We stopped by Target for some purchases my mom told me to make and we were off to my house. Unfortunately, we had no food at my house so we went to the taco shop near my house to compensate. Time came for me to meet up at Alba's, so I had to drop off Katie and met up with Raul and Alba at Alba's house.

The original plan was to drive up to the casinos, but Alba's dad didn't let her so we had to think of alternatives. There were some good ideas tossed around, but we stuck to bowling. Alba asked her brother if he wanted to join and soon enough, the four of us were off to Brunswick. After the trouble of getting back to Alba's for coupons, we got to Brunswick and played in the arcades a bit until they called our names.

It was a 1$ per game at the night we went so it was super cheap. I just completely lost it at bowling and my status was horrible. After enjoying 2 games and a round of pizza, we called it quits with everyone having a good streak. We stopped by 7 Eleven for food and drinks and went back to Alba's. Alba's brother suggested we play some Monopoly. That got us a good 2 hours of game play with Alba dominating the whole board. Afterwards, the four of us got to finishing the puzzle Alba and I bought from Wal-Mart some time back. Raul and I left around 2 and called it a night.

What a night.

The Suburbs

I got ready in the afternoon and headed to Katie's house. Katie wanted to stop by Hillcrest so we decided to venture off there. Katie had to get gas for tomorrow so she ended up driving us there. After getting some gas at the crowded Costco, we hit the highway for Hillcrest.

We only ended up stopping at Buffalo Exchange. Found some great shoes to be purchasing, but I put them aside for later. I hope they're there and I don't forget about them. Katie didn't find much so we left the store and headed back home. We were hungry so that was perfect for our plan.

It's me and Katie's 6 months so we decided to go out to eat dinner at Cheesecake Factory. We waited at the restaurant for a good 10 minutes, waiting for the beeper to flash for our seats. We got seated in a good booth and had ourselves a great meal. Everything we ordered was on point and the cake was just awesome. It was a great celebration dinner. After dinner, we went to my house until Raul called me to go to Lexi's house.

At Lexi's, Andres, Marco, Ian, Jose, and Nik were also over. The first four that I mentioned left right after I got there though, and only Nik stayed at Lexi's. Raul, Nik and I ended up playing Super Smash Bros. Melee 'til the end of the night when Nik had to leave.

Sat. #2/The Bowling Alley is Right Over There

Day 1104:

Winter Break '10-'11, Week 3, Day 21:

Katie came over after leaving her laptop for a fix at the Apple store. We quickly enjoyed In-N-Out and off to the school to drop off Katie at the basketball game to do her management work. I drove to Alba's house where Alba and Raul was in the middle of a Scrabble match. I didn't stay there for long though since Alba had work, so Raul and I headed to the school to meet up with Lexi and Katie at the basketball game.

As soon as the varsity game was about to start, Lexi and Katie went down to the team side and did their manager work. Raul and I stayed up at the bleachers and watched the game. The team ended in overtime twice but ended up with a loss. Raul and I helped Lexi and Katie clean and we were off to Lexi's house.

At Lexi's, we ate some food and tried to get this bowling plan in the works. We called up Alba and waited for her to get ready, and soon enough, we were off with our plan. We picked up Alba and with a little bit of asking around, we made ourselves in the desired part of the base for the bowling alley. We played two good games of bowling and ended up playing a extended game of pool until 11 something. I dropped off Alba and Raul as we got back to Lexi's, and took Katie out to get a sundae. I stayed a bit at Katie's and watched some television then went off home.

Fri! #2/Down the Mountain

Day 1103:

Winter Break '10-'11, Week 3, Day 20:

Woke up at around 8 and started to zip up the duffel bag so Lexi's dad could prepare to load the luggage in the Durango. It was departure day and everyone was up and down the house to make the cabin squeaky clean before the planned time of departure of 10. We squished bags, people vacuumed and swept and all that. After tying up the load in the back and duct taping the tarp, we said goodbye to the cabin and made our way down to the mountain.

We stopped by that Costco we stopped on the first day for more pizzas and made our way back home. After 2 - 3 hours, we were back at Lexi's. We plopped our tired selves on the couch after our long ride. Lexi and Raul headed to go pick up Lexi's new glasses while Katie and I got a ride home.

Later on, Katie came over and had dinner at my house, She needed to go to Henry's and Target for toiletry needs so we drove down to the store for the supplies. After bumping into few of our friends along the way, we got the shopping done and headed back home to my house.

Back to reality, I suppose.

Thu. #2/Snowboarding Pt. 2

Day 1102:

Day 6 of '11:

Winter Break '10-'11, Week 3, Day 19:

Woke up with a not so good morning and got ready to go to snowboarding indecisively. It was just Lexi's parents, Raul and me going to Summit for snowboarding/skiing. It was the brightest and probably the warmest day to hit up the snow. Said goodbye to the girls and hit up the road.

Raul and I went to go snowboarding at the mountains non-stop, visiting other areas of the place that we didn't go the first day. All that sliding got me worn out at around 3, and I split from the Raul and waited for the others to get done at the cabin. Finally at 4, Raul came to get me, and we rode the shuttle back to the Durango. With tired bodies and a fun time, we headed back to the cabin.

I got warmed up at the shower and enjoyed dinner with the four kids. Lexi's dad's work friends were over and shared some wine coolers with us. Katie and I headed upstairs and just laid our tired selves on the futon bed. The two of us got to packing our bags since we were leaving early in the morning tomorrow. After the packing, we got the Bananagrams out and started playing custom Scrabble again. When it was just us two awake in the whole cabin, we decided to call it a night and slept one last time in the cabin.

The trip was fast, but really fun.

Wed. #2/Tubin'

Day 1101:

Winter Break '10-'11, Week 3, Day 19:

Change of plans for today. We woke up with the same routine, but this time, instead of snowboard, Lexi, Katie, Raul and I stopped by another location to go tubing. We got the tickets and Lexi's parents left us alone in our fun.

We started to get creative after a while since just sliding down gets boring over time. We attempted to link together as a train and sliding down as an example. We stopped around 1 for a lunch break, and Lexi's mom brought us burgers for lunch. We went for more after our meal, a bit tired out from the lunch. As the sun began to fall at 4, the park began to close and the four of us were picked up to head on the cabin.

Another delicious meal, hot chocolate and some TV for the night. Katie, Raul and I decided to play custom Scrabble with the Bananagrams that Katie brought for the rest of the night.

Tue. #2/Snowboardin' Pt. 1

Day 1100:

Winter Break '10-'11, Week 3, Day 18:

The four of us were woken up by Lexi's dad's voice alarm telling us to get up. Hopped in the shower, ate a great breakfast, geared up in snow clothes and soon enough, all of us hopped in the Durango and drove ourselves to Snow Summit for some snowboarding/skiing action.

Katie stayed in the lodge since she had mono and couldn't do any contact sport or her spleen would be put into danger. She was base camp while the rest of us geared up for the snow. I rode the lifts with Raul and tried to teach him a couple of preparation stuff since it was his first time. We slid down and he was fine, and we were off to our snowboarding sessions. I slid with him for two hours, and then it was time to pass the board off to Lexi for another two hours. Katie and I stayed inside the warm lodge, munching on some food until the others came back.

Everyone came back around 4 since the mountain was closing. We all packed our stuff and Lexi's brother picked all of us up and headed back to the cabin. Took the cold clothes off and was welcomed by a delicious dinner. Once again, we all sipped on hot chocolate and watched Narnia 3. I got worn out quickly along with Katie so it was an early night for sleep.

Mon. #2/Off to Big Bear

Day 1099:

Winter Break '10-'11, Week 3, Day 17:

Woke up early. Showered. Grabbed the duffel bag. Stopped at K-Mart and got to Katie's house. Put the baggage in the trunk. Said bye to my dad and we were off to Lexi's. Lexi's dad loaded all of the luggage in the Durango while Lexi, Raul, Katie and I hung out and enjoyed some food and Lexi's mom and Katie's mom chatted along. Everything was packed and secured in the Durango, so we were out to drive out of San Diego and go off to Big Bear.

We stopped by Costco hours later for a food break. We enjoyed some giant pizza and we were off to drive up the mountains. More we drove up, our ears popped and snow started to fall. Before we knew it, we were surrounded by sheets of white snow. After three hours or so, we finally reached our cabin and unpacked our luggage.

While Lexi's parents went out for groceries, Lexi, Katie, Raul and I decided to explore outside in the snow. We walked out to the woods not so far from the cabin and played with the snow. Raul and I ended up competing to make an igloo against Lexi and Katie until the sun began to fall. We made our cold selves back into the cabin and waited for Lexi's mom's warm food.

After dinner, we sipped on hot chocolate and watched Black Swan and Dinner for Schmucks. Black Swan was brilliant while Dinner for Schmucks was annoying. The four of us made ourselves upstairs and got ready and got ourselves situated on our beds.

This is only the beginning.

Black and Yellow

I called Katie to see what she was doing. She got all ready to do for whatever when I called her. She wanted to clean her house, so I took a trip down to help her out. She was sweeping as I arrived and got to vacuuming. After a while, we headed upstairs to clean, and I helped her out in the vacuuming. After everything was done, we headed to the store to buy stuff to make to eat and bought sausages and rice.

We waited for the rice to get ready as it boiled in the water. Spent some time playing Scrabble Flash and watching TV until everything was ready. We cooked the sausage and enjoyed our meal. Katie got out stuff to bring for tomorrow's trip, and when she was done with that, the two of us headed to my house to pack up my stuff.

Katie was craving sweets so she brought brownies ingredients to my house and we got to baking. During the time the brownie was baking, we packed up all my stuff in Katie's duffel bag. And when the hot brownie arrived from the over, we both enjoyed the chocolate goodness.

Tomorrow should be fun.

I spent the rest of the new years midnight with Katie at Lexi's house. I went back around 1 and just knocked out. Next afternoon, I decided to go bring the skateboard to Heritage and skate there for a bit. A little after I got to Heritage, Katie, Lexi and Raul came to the park to play some basketball. We got to playing a little 2 on 2 with Raul on my side. We didn't really last that long since a lot of us haven't really exercised in a while but we put up a good game. The four of us played a little Around the World, then we walked back to Lexi's house.

On the way back to Lexi's, I suggested to Katie that we go to Five Guys since she wanted some burgers. The two of us invited Lexi and Raul but they decided to stay home. We headed to Katie's house since she needed to shower and get ready. And little after, we hit the highway.

Five Guys was kinda crowded, more than what we saw the last time I came here. Katie bought me a burger and the two of us enjoyed some fries together along with our burgers. I got a call from Raul, asking if we wanted to watch TRON Legacy, so we made ourselves back home and went off to the theatres.

TRON Legacy was a great Sci-Fi movie. Katie was just mind-blown of how awesome it was. After the movie, Katie and I decided to go to my house for a bit while Raul and Lexi did their own thing. We headed to Katie's house later on to enjoy some hot chocolate and the Food Network.

Great way to start the year.
